What if you miss the deadline? Ask your employer's payroll team for your P60. You can also see your pay and tax history in your HMRC online account.
A P60 is a summary of your pay and the tax deducted in the tax year that ended on 5 April. Your employer must give it to you by 31 May, on paper or electronically.
How to do it
- Look out for your P60 in late May, on paper or in your payroll portal.
- Check the pay and tax figures against your last payslip of the tax year.
- Keep it safe. You need it to claim back overpaid tax and as proof of income for a loan or mortgage.
- If it has not arrived by 31 May, ask your employer.
